| Incision: | pocked Higgins/1987, 380, suggests that the C of the inscription has been re-cut at a later date, `using a flat-bladed chisel, probably a querk. The C is of V-shaped section while the rest of the letters have a gentle U-shaped section'. He suggests this recutting took place when the inscription P. O. M. and the date 1814 were carved into the stone. |
