McManus/1991, 54: `The most interesting example of this type of relationship is surely provided by inscriptions 243 [this stone] and 244 [RFILD/2] from a souterrain in Rockfield, Co. Kerry (MAQI-RITTE MAQI COLABOT [MAQI MOCO QERAI] and COILLABBOTAS MAQI CORBI MAQI MOCOI QERAI) the former of which, even if the restoration is in large part inferential, may record the stone (i.e. assuming COILLABBOTAS and COLABOT to be the same person) of the person commemorated in the latter and would thus confirm O and OI as interchangable spellings of the dipthong, not dialectal variants, as well as showing an interesting linguistic development within a single generation, viz the apocope of the final syllable -AS'.
