| Palaeography: | Macalister/1949, 34, refers to the `peculiar shape of the letters...The I is squeezed in between the R and the G'. CISP: The inscription is in half-uncial. The first O has a contraction mark over it and the D has an ascender which bends to the left over an open bow, which terminates in a wedge-shaped finial. The Rs are half-uncial as is the G, while the A of Riga[--] is minuscule. The A of the alpha is quite wide with a curved cross-bar and a flat top, the W for omega consists of three ascenders joined by one horizontal stroke at the bottom. The letters HIS XPS appear to be in capitals, except the H which is in the minuscule form. |
