| Decorations: | Macalister/1916, 159: `cross resembling those in previous slabs in a single-line panel. The panel and head of the cross are open above. Below, the panel has spirals at the corners, and an ornamental sinking, about 1/2 inch deep, fills the triangular space between the bottom line of the panel and the head of the stone'. Macalister/1949, 91: `Latin cross with hollowed angles: base ornamentally treated'. Okasha/Forsyth/2001, 87: `The face of the slab is dressed and is incised with an outline Latin cross with semi-circular hollow armpits. The upper arm and shaft are open. The side arms meet the framing lines which run the length of the slab. The cross sits on a base of unusual shape carved in low relief; it consists of an inverted triangle with large flat bosses at the upper corners and rounded apex below'. |

| Palaeography: | Macalister/1916, 159: `The second line of the inscription has to be read first, as in two slabs...at Clonmacnoise'. Okasha/Forsyth/2001, 88: `The text uses half-uncial script'. CISP: The lettering is is Insular half-uncial. The A's are in the 'OC' form and the H and second L have wedge-shaped finials atop their ascenders. The S is majuscule and the first L is so curved as to look like a reversed S. The Es are in the closed minuscule form and the D has an ascender which bends to the left over an open bow. |
